Beginning October 27th, rehabilitation will begin on Carey and Pioneer Avenues.
Downtown business owners and representatives from Reiman Corp, AVI Engineering, and the City of Cheyenne met at the Laramie County Library to discuss the improvements to Carey and Pioneer Avenues.
Beginning October 27th, rehabilitation will begin on Carey and Pioneer Avenues. Rehabilitation includes traffic signal replacement, additional lighting, updated storm drains, and water and sewer improvements. This two phased project will include utility work in the first phase followed by street work and enhancements in the second.
In the first phase sewer mains will be relined and new water lines will be installed. It is necessary to shut off the lines during relining, therefore sewage relining will be done at night. Business owners will be informed as to when the lines will not be in service. Along with sewer main improvements, water lines will increase from 6” to 8” pipes, allowing for greater flow and higher efficiency.
The second phase beginning in Winter 2010 includes ornamental pedestrian lighting, traffic signal replacement, decreasing the crowning of the street and replacing the curb and gutter with new storm drains. Current concrete and asphalt will be removed and replaced with a 4” layer of asphalt over a 6” layer of concrete.
Construction will begin on the south end of Pioneer from 16th to 18th streets and the north end of Carey from 24th to 22nd. By starting construction at separate ends with two different construction crews this allows for a smoother flow in car and foot traffic on these streets.
Designated detours and scrolling message boards will be set up for the protection of community members and construction crews.
Reiman Corp, AVI and the City of Cheyenne are working closely with downtown business owners to ensure a smooth and easy construction process for all involved.
Other Reiman Corp. downtown Cheyenne projects include Capitol Avenue, Cheyenne Depot Plaza, Cheyenne Depot Coupler, downtown parking structure and multiple interior renovations to existing structures.
